LASIK EYE SURGERY
A recent study reveals that successful LASIK laser eye surgery,
while mainly dependent on the doctor, patient and equipment, may
benefit from the right atmospheric conditions as well. Research
shows that fewer cases of touch-up LASIK surgery are required when
humidity and temperature are properly controlled.
It is estimated that more than three million Americans have
undergone LASIK eye surgery since it was approved in 1995. Although
the Mayo Clinic was initially cautious about getting involved with a
new procedure, the doctors now reassure patients about its safety.
The clinic has tracked its own LASIK eye surgery patients, and has
determined that LASIK is relatively safe and effective. The American
Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) conducted a 2003
survey that showed 93% of patients were satisfied with the results
of LASIK surgery.
